FCC Construcción Portugal begins construction work on the Reguengos de Monsaraz hydraulic circuit and Peral irrigation block for EDIA - Empresa de Desenvolvimento e Infraestrutura do Alqueva. The contract obtained, integrated in the Empreendimento de Fins Múltiplos de Alqueva (EFMA), contemplates the construction of a first section (T1) of the primary Adductor System of the hydraulic circuit of Reguengos de Monsaraz, composed of a Primary network, between the Álamos-Loureiro canal and the Bragada reservoir, as well as a secondary network that integrates the Peral Block

FCC Construcción Portugal begins construction work on the Reguengos de Monsaraz hydraulic circuit and Peral irrigation block for EDIA - Empresa de Desenvolvimento e Infraestrutura do Alqueva. The contract obtained, integrated in the Empreendimento de Fins Múltiplos de Alqueva (EFMA), contemplates the construction of a first section (T1) of the primary Adductor System of the hydraulic circuit of Reguengos de Monsaraz, composed of a Primary network, between the Álamos-Loureiro canal and the Bragada reservoir, as well as a secondary network that integrates the Peral Block.

The irrigation network to be built will benefit an area of 1,315 hectares between the municipalities of Évora and Portel.

FCC Construcción in Portugal has executed several projects in the Alqueva project, such as the construction of the Monte Branco and Lagoa Vermelha dams and pumping stations; the construction of the Secondary Irrigation Network for Block 1 of the Monte Novo Hydro-agricultural Development; the construction of Irrigation and Drainage Road Infrastructures for the Orada-Amoreira Hydro-agricultural Development; the construction of the Irrigation and Drainage Road Infrastructures for the Orada-Amoreira Hydro-agricultural Development; the construction and supply of equipment for the construction of a secondary irrigation network for Block 1 of the Monte Novo Hydro-agricultural Development; and the construction of a secondary irrigation network for the Peral Block; the construction and supply of equipment for the Pedrogão Left Bank Pumping Station; the construction of the Amoreira-Caliços hydraulic circuit; the construction of irrigation, road and drainage infrastructure in the Beja Block and the construction of the 4th Vale do Gaio Hydraulic Circuit.

The project is part of the Alqueva Multipurpose Development (EFMA), with EDIA being the company managing the Alqueva project. EFMA is made up of a set of infrastructures grouped together, the source of water for the project being the Alqueva reservoir, with the capacity to guarantee self-sufficiency during 4 consecutive years of drought.

A surface area of 130,000 hectares of irrigated land is currently being explored and projects and works are being developed to extend the irrigation perimeters in Alqueva to 170,000 ha.
