The contract executed by RRC, with an investment of about 7.6 million euros, allows to improve the connection between the two neighboring municipalities of Mondim de Basto and Celorico de Basto. The variant, with an approximate length of 3,650 m, will shorten the current route by almost 5 kilometers.

It includes the reestablishment of the existing roads and respective bridges that would be intercepted, or flooded by the Full Storage Level, created by the dam reservoir of one of the local Hydroelectric Projects, being that:

• The bridge over the river Veade, with a total length of 154m, consists of a deck with five spans of 24.00 + 32.00 + 42.00 + 32.00 + 24.00 m.
• The bridge over the Tâmega River has a deck with six spans of 32.00 + 4 x 42.00 + 32.00 m, corresponding to a total length of 232m.

This connection is structural for the Municipality of Mondim de Basto, as it allows better accessibility to the main corridors of the country, namely in the accesses to the A4 highway, which connects Matosinhos and Quintanilha.
