FCC Construcción makes progress on lot 2 of the Pallas reactor construction project (Netherlands)

FCC Construcción avanza en el lote 2 del proyecto de construcción del reactor de Pallas (Países Bajos)

FCC Construcción continues to make progress on the Pallas reactor construction project (Netherlands), specifically on lot number 2. This lot includes the construction of the pit for the secondary cooling system building and the drilling of the cooling water pipeline between Noordhollandsch Kanaal, the PALLAS site and the North Sea.

Anca Necula, contract lot 2 director: ‘Collaboration within the team was essential to achieve the shared objectives and deadlines efficiently and effectively. It helped build trust and created a positive and productive working environment that we intend to maintain throughout the execution phase.’

Currently, FCC Construcción is in charge of the construction of the PALLAS reactor and the annexed buildings. The PALLAS reactor is important for the treatment and diagnosis of many patients with cancer and cardiovascular disease. These patients depend on the medical isotopes produced in Petten, the former high-flux reactor. With the construction of the new reactor, it will be possible to help patients again for a long time to come. The PALLAS reactor will also contribute to research into a CO2-free energy supply.

An international project

Currently, workers of more than 10 nationalities are participating in this project (Dutch, Spanish, Argentinean, Turkish, Indian, Sri Lankan, Filipino, Romanian, British, Italian...). In total, more than 25 different nationalities will be involved in the PALLAS project, giving it an international flavour.
