Objective

The European project ManuBuild "Open Building Manufacturing" aimed at a radical change in the building system, moving from "resource-based artisanal in-situ construction" to the "open industrialization" of the sector, which would allow a custom building manufacturing the components and modules obtained in an open market and their subsequent assembly on the jobsite. This has meant that:

• Customers are actively involved in the design, using interactive tools.
• Mass customization, which does not mass production, offering customers flexibility in design and choice.
• An ultra-efficient, flexible and scalable manufacturing that enables efficient production on an industrial scale.
• An open system for products and components that provides a variety of supplies and competitive component costs.
