ASPHALTGEN
NEW SELF-HEALING ASPHALFT AGGLOMERATE FOR MORE DURABILITY AND LOW MAINTENANCE OF SURFACE ROADS
Objective
The main objective of the project is the study of a new asphaltic agglomerate with self-healing properties to enhance its durability and reducing the maintenance works needed on the roads produced by the traffic and the climate conditions.
- The main objectives are:
- To study different approaches and mechanisms of self-regeneration such as hollow fiber, ionomers, molecular interdiffusion, ionic liquids, etc..
- Development of new tests in the laboratory to check the durability of the mixtures and their new self-regenerating capacity.
- Design of the production facilities (up to a certain scale) of the self-regenerating material due to its high dependence on the chosen technology.
- Study of the methods of application of self-regenerating material in hot bituminous mixtures, with the aim of making them easy to use in the manufacturing process.
