Students from the University of Aachen visit the Anillo Insular de Tenerife project (Canary Islands)

The students of the RWTH Master's programme of the University of Aachen (Germany) have visited the "Anillo Insular" project in Tenerife, which is being executed by FCC Construcción. The students visited the entire project and saw the experience and innovative strength of FCC Construcción, which is highlighted together with various good environmental practices in the project.

The project consists of building the section of road closing the Tenerife Island Ring Road between kilometre point 11.270 with the connection to the TF-5 in the town of San Juan del Reparo, in the municipality of El Tanque, and kilometre point 22.609 with the connection to the TF-1 in Santiago del Teide. The most important project is the construction of the Erjos Tunnel. This underground work, consisting of two parallel tubes, each 5.1 kilometres long, will run under the Teno Massif and will be the longest tunnel in the archipelago and one of the longest road tunnels in Spain.

This first-class, sustainable infrastructure will make it possible to reduce carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere and protect the area's environment.

The project will improve road safety for users and connectivity for the residents of the towns of El Tanque, Los Silos and Santiago del Teide. It will transform a road that is dangerous due to the high traffic intensity into a safe and sustainable road.
