Sustainability

Sustainability is very important for FCC Construcción and it is now an inherent part of our production processes and day-to-day activities. Challenges such as climate change or natural resources scarcity enable us to position ourselves and make a commitment towards developing actions to fight them. This is why, aiming to intensify our involvement with these global challenges, we have taken steps such as calculating, verifying and publishing our greenhouse gas emissions, to improve our impact management on climate, or investing in resources to protect and restore natural areas and areas with high biodiversity value.

FCC works under the paradigms of the responsible use of resources, search for maximum efficiency, innovation in processes, new technologies, and the application of production models included in the circular economy. This holistic approach and commitment to the SDG’s ensures our alignment to international best practices and rating tools such as GBCA Green Star and ISCA.

Our commitment to sustainable construction is recognised in the development SAMCEW© (Sustainability Assessment Method), our own internal method to assess the sustainability of our engineering works and their area of impact.

FCC is committed to the need to transform the production model from linear (where resources are consumed and eliminated), to circular economy at a global level. In 2017, together with other economic and social agents, FCC signed the Circular Economy Agreement, thereby ratifying its commitment to this new paradigm. Monitoring the consumption of natural resources in the projects carried out is key to promoting a more rational use of these resources and suggesting possibilities of reuse or recovery, after the service provided to the project.
