The FCC Construcción project in Chile, Puente Industrial de Concepción, is more than 50% complete. During recent years, the province of Concepción has considerably increased its levels of traffic congestion. To solve this situation, both local authorities and the Government of Chile proposed solutions with the aim of decongesting, improving circulation to industrial areas, securing logistics routes in the region and reducing the risk of accidents.

Thanks to this, “Puente Industrial Road Concession” was born. A project developed by the Ministry of Public Works that aims to enhance the routes associated with productive areas in the Bío Bío region.

The project consists of a 6.5 kilometer long highway that connects Route 160 in San Pedro de la Paz at the Los Batros Bridge with Avenida Costanera in Hualpén, through a bridge that will cross the Biobío River.
The bridge will be the second longest bridge in Chile, after the Chacao Bridge, and the longest in the Biobío Region.

The project is divided into three sectors:

• Sector A (north of the Industrial Bridge), connects the flows of the communes of Concepción, Talcahuano, Hualpén and San Pedro de la Paz. It is 43% complete and activities have focused on the construction of the Hualpén, Costanera viaduct and the Enap overpass.
• Sector B is the industrial bridge itself. It consists of a long structure that connects both banks of the Biobío River and crosses the Los Batros estuary. It has an extension of 2,520 meters. Construction work is progressing at 65%, developing the execution of piles as well as the installation of prefabricated beams and tiles. Currently, 20% of the board is concreted.
• Sector C (south of the Industrial Bridge) is a link that connects the new highway with Route 160. It presents a progress of 25%.

The project has an Environmental Qualification Resolution, where there are mitigation measures associated with the protection of flora, fauna and cultural heritage and mitigation measures related to the community in the area of direct influence. Likewise, it has voluntary commitments. Active work has been done with the community of the communities involved, through periodic meetings.
