The A465 motorway expansion project (Wales, United Kingdom) obtains CEEQUAL-BREEAM certification

The A465 motorway expansion project (Wales, United Kingdom), executed by FCC Construcción, has obtained CEEQUAL-BREEAM certification. CEEQUAL-BREEAM is an organisation that has a sustainability assessment, rating and award scheme for civil engineering, infrastructure, landscaping and public works, with the aim of improving sustainability through best practices.
The certification is divided into eight categories: management, resilience, communities and stakeholders, land use and ecology, landscape and historic environment, pollution, resources and transport, which are further divided into criteria.
The A465 project carried out by FCC Construcción has obtained CEEQUAL certification with an excellent rating, scoring over 82%.
The project, developed under a PPP model, consists of the extension of the A465 motorway, on sections 5 and 6, which are 17.3 kilometres long and located between the towns of Dowlais Top, Merthyr Tydfil and Hirwaun. This project represents a significant improvement in mobility and connectivity in Wales, as well as for the revival of the local economy. The expansion of the A465 has involved a significant investment that has enabled the generation of a range of benefits for the local companies participating in the project.
