Sotra Bridge: the largest suspended bridge built digitally
The Sotra Bridge project, in which FCC Construcción participates, is beginning the construction of the largest fully digital suspended bridge in the world.
The bridge, with a main span span of 608 meters and a total length of 901 meters, is using digital technologies both in its design and construction, as well as in its operation and maintenance, once completed.
The entire work ‘PPP Rv. 555 Sotrasambandet, the Sotra Connection’ is being designed digitally. This makes it easier to anticipate possible errors through better coordination of the different project disciplines, which will ultimately result in the construction phase that has just begun.
Sotra Link Construction JV took on the challenge of digitally constructing the largest awarded project in the Nordic countries. To do this, it is using the BIM methodology, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), Virtual and Augmented Reality, as well as different equipment and machinery with 'state-of-the-art' technology. All this digitalization is put at the service of the construction company FCC Construcción's experience in projects with high technical requirements, which establishes the requirements to use the value that technology offers in its own interest.
