Students from Dresde University of Technology visit Almonte Viaduct

A group of students from Dresden University of Technology visited the viaduct built by FCC over the Almonte River, part of the Alcántara-Garrovillas reservoir section along the Madrid-Extremadura-Portuguese Border high-speed line.

Once finished, the viaduct, on which concreting works of the final segments of the deck span against the arch are coming to a close, will have the world's third largest concrete arch and will obtain a world record-breaking status in railway arch bridges, beating two German bridges, Froschgrundsee and Grümpen, with arches spanning 270 metres.
