FCC Construcción has published the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Report for the 2022 financial year. This report quantifies and verifies, for the third consecutive year and as a pioneer in the sector, the total GHG emissions throughout its activity and in every country in which the company is present. 

In 2020, the company met the goal of extending the verification of the GHG emissions inventory to the international scope, so FCC Construcción had the 100% of its activity verified under the ISO 14064-1 Standard. This was also achieved in 2021 and 2022, which demonstrates the consolidation of the company's methodology for quantifying and verifying its GHG emissions produced in Spain, Portugal, Bulgaria, Romania, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, El Salvador, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Peru, the United States, Canada, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Australia.

Furthermore, in 2021, the scope of the GHG emissions inventory was fully expanded, which involved taking additional actions such as the dissemination and training of the organization's emissions quantification methodology through its own personnel, or the establishment and systematization of internal controls to ensure the quality of the inventory activity data, among others. These same actions have been carried out also in 2022, besides updating the specific emission factors for all the different countries and the different sources of the inventory’s GHG emissions.

Concerning the fight against climate change, this milestone is in addition to the publication of the Climate Change Strategy 2023-2026, by which the company has defined three strategic lines of action; mitigation, adaptation and governance of climate change, which will mark the steps to follow to achieve neutrality in 2050 and make FCC Construcción a company resilient to the consequences of global warming.

This achievement represents the culmination of a path that began in 2010, when FCC Construcción integrated the concept of climate change in the company, becoming the first Spanish company in the sector to submit its emissions to external verification by AENOR.
