FCC Construcción Preferred Proponent for the Fraser River Tunnel project (Canada)
The Cross Fraser Partnership consortium, of which FCC Construcción is a member, has been selected as the Preferred Proponent for the Fraser River Tunnel project (British Columbia), signing a Design Early Works Agreement for the project.
The Cross Fraser Partnership is a consortium of leading Canadian and international construction and engineering companies, Bouygues Construction Canada Inc, FCC Canada Ltd, Pomerleau BC Inc, Arcadis Canada Inc and Boskalis Canada Dredging and Marine Services Ltd.
The selection of the Cross Fraser Partnership is the result of a competitive procurement process that evaluated proposals based on technical excellence, financial stability, community engagement and collaboration. The consortium brings together leading construction and engineering firms with a strong track record of delivering complex infrastructure projects internationally.
The project will connect communities, improving the mobility of goods and the thousands of people who depend on this infrastructure. The state-of-the-art tunnel will incorporate advanced engineering solutions and sustainable construction practices, reflecting a commitment to innovation and environmental protection.
The tunnel will have eight lanes and will facilitate commuting for the local community. Improved public transport connections, cycling and pedestrian facilities, reduced traffic congestion and easier access to, from and across Highway 99 make this project important to the residents of Steveston and Richmond. This project will reduce traffic congestion and provide easier access for Steveston and Richmond residents.
FCC Canada
The FCC Group's construction division has been present in Canada for more than 25 years through its subsidiary FCC Canada Ltd. In 1998 it was awarded the contract to build, operate and maintain the Federicton-Moncton highway project. In 2011, it was awarded the contract for the extension of a section of the Toronto Subway expansion, the city's first modern underground infrastructure project. This new contract award, together with the GO Rail Expansion-On Corridor project, the Scarborough Subway Extension Stations, Rail and Systems project and the Ontario Line Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations, strengthens the FCC Group's presence in the Canadian underground infrastructure market.
